As spring approaches, your children’s summer plans are likely on your mind! If you are looking for a camp or sports activity to put them in, consider Asphalt Green! Asphalt Green offers different types of camps and sports programs like swimming, soccer, baseball and martial arts. With a location uptown and downtown, Asphalt Green is convenient for all Glenwood residents.

Summer Camp Options

The Asphalt Green provides four different camp options for you this summer!

If you are interested, there is a summer camp open house Sunday March 8th from 11am-12pm at 555 E 90th Street.

Mini Camps

• The mini camps are offered for children 4.5 years old to 12 years old. Camp begins at 8:45am and ends at 3:15pm. There is an optional pre-camp that begins at 7:45am and a post-camp that runs until 5:15pm. It is held at the Upper East Side location.  Swimming, sports, arts and crafts, music, and martial arts will be the focus of this camp along with an emphasis on learning great sportsmanship! This is a “mini” camp because it runs for a shorter time. If you live in Glenwood uptown buildings, the UES Asphalt Green location is perfect for you!

Summer Day Camp

• Asphalt Green summer day camp is offered for 4.5 year old to 13 year old children. Similar to the mini camp, there is a focus on swimming, sports, arts and crafts, music, and martial arts. The camp is held at both the Upper East side (555 E 90^thSt) and downtown (212 North End Avenue) locations. Call 212-298-7900 to find out more information on the camp. Swim Camp

• Swim camp at Asphalt green is held for children ages 8 years old-15 years old at the Upper East Side location. Asphalt Green has an exceptional swim program that has sent many of its team members to collegiate level swimming and even the Olympics! If you child loves to swim, they will have a blast here learning from the very best! The swim camp is Monday through Friday 8am to 4pm.

Soccer Camp

• Soccer camp is offered for children 6-14 years old at the Upper East Side turf field. If your child loves soccer, make sure to check this camp out! It takes place Monday through Friday 9am-4pm. If you would like more information call 212-298-7900.

Summer break from New York City schools is closer than you think – which means children will be spending more time outdoors, exploring, and playing with friends and classmates. Truth be told, kinds need constant entertaining, and New York City has some wonderful summer camps with open availability for the upcoming summer months! Spots are filled quickly, so grab your kids’ sunglasses, sports equipment, and art and crafts set as we check out these camps!

Musical Summers at The School of Rock Brooklyn

If your aspiring rockstar or jazz master needs a creative outlet this summer, the School of Rock Brooklyn offers a full day (9am to 3pm) program that includes learning and rehearsing songs in groups, breaking out into tune, and coming up with new beats. All levels are welcome, and programs are available for ages 7 to 17.

The camp runs in a series of 5 day programs, costing $650 per session. A few of their top programs include:

• Legends of Rock
• The Beatles Camp

It’s showtime! Every Friday afternoon, kids perform a live show that showcases what they learned that week. Besides leaning about music history, theory, and technique, campers walk away from this camp with the ability to perform in front of a crowd. A Summer Camp with the Best Bang for Your Buck: YMCA

There are quite a few summer camps and programs in NYC that don’t come cheap. However, the YMCA has been offering affordable camps for kids for decades, and lucky for us New Yorkers, they have 20 locations scattered throughout all five boroughs, as well as the option to attend sleep away camp in upstate New York!

In addition to being well priced, the Y also has another huge advantage: the diversity in programming. They have a huge variety of options available to everyone 4 years old through high school, ranging from sports camps to arts-focused camps, and even academic based camps (science experiments, anyone?) The cost to attend ranges from $200 to $450 a week depending on location, but financial aid is available to those who qualify.

For the Independent Explorers: Tinkering Camp

With a curriculum that was originally founded in California, Tinkering Camp is designed to be a problem-solving experience lab for children of all ages, and will be held at the Brooklyn Apple Academy!

Kids are encouraged to branch out and tinker in new mediums, ranging from:

• Exploring the kitchen
• New musical instruments
• Getting handy in wood shop
• Mastering sewing techniques
• Customizing pieces with printmaking

Along with afternoons free to discover, morning field trips around Brooklyn are important to encourage discovery. Groups will visit Prospect Park, Central Library, and The Brooklyn Museum, which allows plenty of opportunities to discover their local community!

The program day is from 9am to 3pm, and runs from July 31st to August 25th. A week of full day classes is $550, and camp is offered to those in grades K to 8.

For Your Athlete: Kick It Camp

Whether your son or daughter is an aspiring future World Cup player, or just has a ton of excess energy they need to release, the Kick It Camp at Super Soccer Stars will certainly do the trick!

With locations in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens, this camp offers flexibility for busy parents with unpredictable schedules. Camp sessions range from weekly camps, 4 week mini sessions, and drop-in classes.
